What We Did for Memorial Day

Posted by Gabrielle

So, we did miss our church's annual Memorial Day picnic as we spent the day cleaning out Meme and Pepe's house, but it wasn't all work and no play... ;)

We had fun with our grandparents...
took pictures in the roses...
played the piano(which will be moving down to NC)...
played Monopoly
and Stratego...
and cleaned!(Yes, the bag was heavy :)

More posts to come after we get cleaned up from the trip and settled back into the routine of life.Align Center

Sunday with our Church Family in NH

Posted by Gabrielle

We were able to spend Sunday driving up to NH to spend the day in fellowship with our dear church family up there. Unfortunately, due to sickness, we were not able to do as much as we had hoped or take as many pictures as I would have liked, but it was wonderful nonetheless.
Here are the few pictures I did have time to take.
These are the beautiful, tree-lined highways that mark New England

Part of the afternoon we spent with our dear friends, the Sohmers! Thank you so much for your hospitality! It was such a refreshing visit!
Sadly, I was too involved with the younger children's play and completely forgot to take any pictures, but this cute kitty spent a good part of the afternoon being chased by a swarm of 5-8 year-olds. :)

Highlights of our Second Day 'On the Job'

Posted by Gabrielle

Yesterday afternoon, after a full and successful morning of cleaning, three of Mommy's friends from her school days and which she still keeps in touch with came for a visit! We talked for a bit inside and then most of us went for a walk out to the library and walked the grounds for a bit.

Left to right: Mommy, Mrs. Windle, Mrs. Bennett and Mrs. Collyer
Jedidiah, Tobias and Benaiah had fine climbing the huge stone steps of the old library building
My beautiful sister Christianna. :)
Behind the library, there was construction going on and the little boys had fun watching the excavators for a bit.
The old wing of the library had these marvelous domed ceilings and paintings on the walls.

Some Pictures from our First Day 'On the Job'

Posted by Gabrielle

Yesterday was rather busy as it was our first day 'on the job', a.k.a cleaning out the house. Late afternoon, Mommy took Tobias and me for a walk down to the place where she went to school as a girl.
Mommy and Tobias at the arched gateway leading into the library grounds
The beautiful, old building that was the library in Mommy's younger days. They've since built a new one next to it which we visited this afternoon.

Meme and Pepe's house, the base of operations, as it were. :)

Jedidiah is enamored with two pairs of scissors that he found. :)

More to come soon!

Sights Along the Road

Posted by Gabrielle

We had a wonderful day of travel up to Massachusetts today and are now enjoying the evening in our hotel suites half an hour away from Meme and Pepe's house where we go to spend the day tomorrow.
Here are a few pictures from our day-not in order and taken through the van windows.

This classic church steeple caught my eye
Washington Monument
We were charmed with this cute lighthouse on the Hudson River
Another pretty building that caught my eye
The best sight of all-our happy little traveler! :)

Good thing it's not up to the two-year-olds to drive! :)

My Apologies for the Posts...

Posted by Gabrielle

(Or the lack thereof...)

We are preparing to leave Wednesday morning on a week-long adventure up to Massachusetts and New Hampshire to begin clearing out Meme and Pepe's house in preparation for their intended move down here in August! It is promising to be an adventure that we are all excited about!

Nevertheless, if you have been wondering what happened to the blog, I have been thinking of it, but have been too busy to post.

I'll close with a beautiful psalm we read the other night at family worship.

"I will lift up my eyes to the mountains; From where shall my help come? My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth.
He will not allow your foot to slip; He who keeps you will not slumber. Behold, He who keeps Israel Will neither slumber nor sleep.

The Lord is your keeper; The Lord is your shade on your right hand. The sun will not smite you by day, Nor the moon by night.
The Lord will protect you from all evil; He will keep your soul.
The Lord will guard your going out and your coming in From this time forth and forever. "

Tobias' View on Brothers and Math

Posted by Gabrielle

I came down to the kitchen this morning in the middle of school to discover Tobias (age 6) thinking through his math out-loud:

"I have eight cookies and Elliot comes and takes away eight..."
