Haircutting

I have been wanting to learn how to cut hair professionally. About a month ago I had a friend cut mine and I got to watch her cut someone else's hair. My older sister finally consented to let me try it out on her hair.

and the finished deal... my sister liked it, but I thought it needed some improvement. Anyone want a free haircut?? :)

Two April Birthdays!

Last month we celebrated not just one, but two April birthdays! What could be better than that?!

The first was Timothy's in the middle of the month, and we celebrated with a full dinner of his choice, including a paella - a rice and seafood dish topped steamed asparagus and peppers.

In the Hellwig family, 19 is your first birthday with the 'number candles', unless of course you choose not to have candles. :)

And, at the end of the month, we celebrated Elliot's 13th birthday!

His birthday dinner was predominantly mexican, including one of our family favorites - cheese and green chile tamales from Trader Joes!
